Fall 2026 New York City Fellowship

Twelve-week fellowship for NYC-based early-career photographers and photojournalists, running mid-September to mid-December 2026. Fellows produce an in-depth documentary project based in New York City that speaks to social issues and engages NYC communities, with bi-weekly mentorship and project development support from the Magnum Foundation team. Alongside the project, fellows spend Wednesdays and Thursdays (16 hours a week) working in Magnum Foundation's New York office on research, multimedia production, event production and emerging-platform work — paid arts administration experience treated as an integral part of the team. Compensation is a $5,000 production grant paid at the start plus $25/hour for the in-office hours. Candidates should have expertise in at least one of arts administration, research, writing, video production or graphic design, and at least one completed long-term project; recent graduates and self-taught photographers are encouraged, and the program is open to photographers of all ages.
