Zone Magazine — Open Submissions
Zone is a photography-based publication that opens submissions to any visual artist, with no restrictions on age, medium, or approach. The submission format is unusual for the genre: artists send up to 20 JPG images bundled in a ZIP file, with a strict 20MB cap and no external links or WeTransfer accepted. There is no submission fee, and artists are explicitly invited to submit multiple times throughout the year.
Selected work appears primarily on the magazine's Instagram, where the editorial team curates the rollout — they reserve the right to select a subset from a series, reorder images, and occasionally crop. Some work is grouped with other artists in collective posts. Print publications are produced separately; recent print titles include Z3NE, Amongst the More Irritating Minor Ideas, and Alone Together.
The submission flow is deliberately low-friction. There is no themed brief; an optional bio, artist statement, and Instagram handle accompany the file. Artists receive no guarantee of feature, and the team does not provide individualized feedback on rejections.
