F-Stop Magazine Issue #138 — Documentary 2026

F-Stop Magazine has been publishing themed photography issues online since 2004. Each issue centers on a single category — documentary, conceptual, portrait, landscape, color, abstract, alternative process, photobook — and runs as an open call to feature multiple photographers per issue. Issue 138 is a documentary photography issue.

The brief for the documentary issue is photography that records events, environments, or everyday life in a straightforward, accurate way. F-Stop draws an explicit distinction from photojournalism: documentary work has longer-term focus on a topic, place, or event, rather than newsworthy moments.

Submissions are free and limited to one per person per issue. Each submission can include up to 12 photographs with a project statement and/or descriptive captions. F-Stop publishes online — selected work appears on the magazine's website indefinitely as part of its archive.

The Issue #138 deadline is July 10, 2026; the issue publishes August 1, 2026.
