Thinking Photography & Writing Photography 2026

Biennial prizes for writing about photography, awarded jointly for the fourth time by the German Photographic Society (DGPh) and the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation. The €3,000 'Thinking Photography' research prize honours scholarly work in photo theory and history — master's theses, dissertations, and independent publications alike, published or unpublished, created from November 2024. The €1,000 'Writing Photography' prize for innovative publicism recognises journalistic and essayistic publications on photography, with particular interest in blogs, columns, reviews, net-based formats, and work that creatively combines text and photographic material. Texts in German or English. Apply with an English summary (c. 3,500 characters), full manuscript, CV, and publication list via the upload links on the announcement page. An international jury decides; the awards are presented at a public event in 2027.
