VMFA Visual Arts Fellowship 2027–28

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts' long-standing fellowship program supporting Virginia's visual artists and art students, having awarded more than $6.5 million to date. Photography is an explicit eligible discipline (alongside crafts, drawing, film/video, mixed media, new/emerging media, painting, printmaking, sculpture and art history). Fellowships are $8,000 for professional individual/collaborative artists, $6,000 for graduate students and $4,000 for undergraduates, funding work during the May 2027–May 2028 period. No application fee. Open to US citizens or permanent residents who have been legal residents of Virginia for at least 24 consecutive months before the deadline; professional artists and full-time graduate/undergraduate students. Submit eight digital work samples.
