Passage Art-Residency-Programme 2026
Passage Art-Residency-Programme is a multi-year residency programme (2025–2029) operating in the Wittenberg region of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, organized by Polygona Kunstverein and integrated into the KOBRA Cultural Network Wittenberg. The programme is dedicated specifically to photography and film, with each residency tied to a thematic site rather than a generic studio.
The 2026 cycle offers two parallel four-week residencies in October 2026, each anchored at a different historic site:
Topic 1 takes place at Ferropolis, the open-air industrial museum built around the former Zschornewitz coal-fired power station — the brief asks for work engaging with energy production, post-industrial landscapes, and questions of transition. Topic 2 is hosted at the Reformationsgeschichtliche Forschungsbibliothek Wittenberg, a Reformation-era research library — the brief invites work on knowledge, visual representation, and the relationship between text and image.
Each residency includes a €5,000 grant plus on-site accommodation, research support, and curatorial guidance. A €1,000 supplement is available for residents traveling with children. The programme runs ten full Artist-in-Residence stays plus five shorter "Passage Shorts" residencies across its 2025–2029 span.
Eligibility is open to national and international artists aged 18 and over; students are not eligible. Submission is free. The 2026 deadline is May 30; results announced from June 20.
