Nordic Artists' Centre Dale 2027 Residency
Nordic Artists' Centre Dale (NKD) is a non-profit residency centre established in 1998 in the village of Dale, Fjaler — on the west coast of Norway, in a fjord landscape several hours from Bergen. Funding comes from the Norwegian Ministry of Culture and Equality.
Residencies run two to four months. Residents receive a monthly grant of NOK 11,000, travel reimbursement up to NOK 5,000, free accommodation in a private residence house, and a 50m² studio with 6-metre ceilings and north-lit panorama windows.
Eligibility is restricted by discipline. Open to professional visual artists, designers, and architects — photographers welcome. Explicitly not available to students or practitioners in music, writing, dance, or theatre.
Residents are expected to give a public presentation and participate in an open studio day during their stay. The residency is structured as research and production rather than performance — most output is studio-based with the public components as endpoints.
Application is free, submitted through Rimbert with a portfolio. The 2027-cycle deadline was April 30, 2026.
