Lanesboro BIPOC Artist Residency 2026/27
Lanesboro Arts runs a residency program reserved for Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color (BIPOC) artists based in Minnesota. The 2026/27 cycle is open to artists of all stages and all mediums — photography is named alongside dance, design, digital media, documentary, fiber arts, film, illustration, installation, music, writing, and the rest of the list. Studio space is available but optional; the program is built around residency time as much as production.
The cycle runs between September 2026 and April 2027. Each residency is one or two weeks long, chosen by the artist. Selected residents receive a stipend of $1,250 per week to cover food and living costs and an additional $500 per residency budget for art supplies, plus housing. One community share-back — a workshop, school visit, gathering, or blog post — is required during the residency.
Selection is by lottery from the pool of eligible applications rather than juried review. After the lottery, staff meet individually with each selected artist to confirm dates and shape the residency. Applications close at 11:59 pm on Monday, August 10, 2026; lottery results are communicated by August 14, 2026. Application is free.
