L'Image Satellite 2026

L'Image Satellite is a French photography festival held in Nice, organized by Sept Off, an independent photography association based in southern France. The festival focuses specifically on contemporary still-image practices.

The brief is unusually broad in what counts as photographic work. Eligible approaches include documentary photography, fine art practices, vernacular photography, and experimental work. Eligible presentation formats span printed images, displayed prints, published works, projected images, and animated images — the festival treats photography as a broader domain than the gallery-print tradition.

The festival proper runs three weeks across September and October 2026. Selected artists exhibit for the full duration, with attendance at the vernissage required and participation in installation setup encouraged.

What's covered: a €500 artist presentation fee, round-trip artwork transportation, plus photographer travel and lodging for the festival. The package is structured to ensure artists can meaningfully participate without their own funding.

Submission is free. Each applicant submits up to 20 images in JPEG format at 2400 pixels on the longest side, 300 dpi, accompanied by an optional supplementary PDF (max 20MB) showing broader series or installation views. Submissions are made by email; confirmation arrives within 72 hours of complete submission. The 2026 deadline is May 10.
