Inner Landscapes

Inner Landscapes is a thematic open call from Der Greif, the Augsburg-based photography platform and print magazine, programmed for Mental Health Awareness Month. The theme asks lens-based artists to reflect on mental health and its relationship to everyday life — how internal experiences are shaped by social, cultural, and environmental conditions and how those experiences are expressed through image-making.

Concrete subjects encouraged: care, fatigue, stability, imbalance, support systems, personal coping strategies. Selection criteria favor artistic quality, conceptual clarity, openness to dialogue, and engagement with identity and community.

Selected works are featured in a one-month online exhibition on Der Greif's homepage running May 15 – June 15, 2026. Selected artists also participate in small-group online critique sessions through Der Greif's Face-to-Face program — peers plus Der Greif facilitators rather than a one-way jury verdict. Selection may also lead to an invitation to submit a portfolio to Der Greif Studio for sales and commission opportunities.

Eligibility is open globally with no experience-level restriction. Submissions are made through Picter, up to 10 images. The fee is voluntary — €5 or €10 suggested. Financial assistance is available on request: applicants in financial hardship can email voucher-special-2@dergreif.org for a 50–100% discount code.

The 2026 deadline is May 10.
