Guest Room: Sunyoung Kim & Shinwook Kim

Guest Room is Der Greif's recurring curator-led open call format. Each edition is shaped by an external curator or curatorial duo who set the theme and selection criteria. This Guest Room is curated jointly by Sunyoung Kim, Senior Curator at the Hanmi Museum, and the artist Shinwook Kim.

The theme is "Hyperobjects: Archipelagic Memories." The brief considers how photographs circulate across digital and material networks — fragmenting, dispersing, and reshaping personal and collective histories — and invites work that reflects on memory as something scattered and reassembled rather than fixed.

Selected work is published on Der Greif's platform. Selected artists also receive a face-to-face feedback session with the curators, and one artist receives a €250 Guest Room scholarship. Eligibility is open globally; works previously selected in past Der Greif opportunities are not eligible.

Submission is through Picter and the fee is voluntary (pay-what-you-can). The deadline is July 13, 2026 at 11:59 PM CET, with the resulting online presentation following on dergreif.org.
