Haus-a-rest — Issue 72: The Liminality of Time

Haus-a-rest is a UK-based independent art zine run by editors Jenna Fox and Nichola Rodgers. The publication's editorial line is bluntly stated: a space for the bold, curious, and uncompromising — work that resists the obvious. Each themed issue brings together visual art, photography, and writing from artists at any career stage, with emerging and underrepresented voices especially encouraged to apply.

Issue 72's theme is 'The Liminality of Time' — temporal thresholds where past, present, and future blur, overlap, or dissolve. The editors are looking for works that engage with temporal dislocation, memory, ritual, grief, and states of becoming. Photography sits alongside painting, video, installation, sound art, and writing in the issue.

Visual submissions require a single high-quality photograph of the work, a 300-word description connecting it to the theme, and the applicant's Instagram handle (mandatory). Writers may submit up to 1,000 words of prose or three poems with a 50-word synopsis. There is no submission or selection fee.

Selected works appear in the online issue (launching mid-June 2026) and are promoted across the zine's Instagram gallery, which has 6,000+ followers. The deadline is June 1, 2026. Submissions go through CuratorSpace.
