Fondation Grantham Residency for Artists in Visual Arts 2027
Fondation Grantham operates an artist residency in Saint-Edmond-de-Grantham, a francophone municipality in Quebec roughly 100 kilometers east of Montreal. The residency venue sits next to a small river in a wooded area on the edge of a forest — the natural setting itself is part of the program's focus.
The residency runs four continuous weeks. The 2027 cycle offers four available residency windows: January, February, July, and August. Each resident receives a Phase 1 grant of CAD $5,000 covering the residency, materials, and production. An optional Phase 2 grant of up to CAD $5,000 supports continued project development after the residency ends — total grant range is CAD $5,000 to $10,000.
Travel allowance: up to CAD $1,000 for residents living 500+ kilometers from the venue. The residency includes living space, workspace, and exhibition space, plus access to the wooded area and river. Artists must provide acknowledgment of Foundation support in any work resulting from the residency.
The Fondation supports projects that engage with current environmental issues across aesthetic, social, and global dimensions. Photography is explicitly eligible alongside installation, sculpture, painting, graphic art, performance, and sound, digital, and media arts.
Eligibility requires a minimum of five years of professional practice. Open to visual artists residing in Quebec, elsewhere in Canada, or abroad. Duos are permitted. International applicants are responsible for their own Canadian entry procedures. Applications are submitted via WeTransfer to projets@fondationgrantham.org. The 2027 cycle deadline is May 27, 2026; results announced September 12, 2026.
