Burn Magazine — Open Submissions
Burn was founded by David Alan Harvey in 2008 as an online photography magazine. It accepts work in any photographic genre — documentary, photojournalism, fashion, sports, science, natural history, art photography — with no curatorial preference for one over another. Submissions are sent as a PDF to submissions@burnmagazine.org, with images viewable in an online gallery (password-protected is fine), capped at 1080 pixels on the shortest side. A short explanatory text and artist statement accompany each submission.
Selected essays are published on the magazine's homepage and presented as multimedia pieces rather than flat galleries — slideshows, layered text, sequenced reveals. There is no fixed publication cadence; features run as they are accepted.
There is no submission fee and no eligibility restriction. Editorial leadership beyond Harvey has shifted in recent years, though the current editor is not publicly named. Burn does not run a formal prize or award alongside the open submission — homepage publication is the recognition.
