Athens Photo Festival Dummy Award 2026

The Athens Photo Festival Dummy Award is the festival's annual photobook-dummy competition, run by the Hellenic Centre of Photography. The award is structured around publication: the winner receives a publishing contract with Chose Commune, the Paris-based independent photobook publisher, for production of a photobook with a budget of up to €15,000 and a minimum print run of 400 copies.

The 2026 jury is shared with the Pick:26 Book Award: Joan Fontcuberta, Katerina Gregos (Artistic Director, EMΣT, the National Museum of Contemporary Art Athens), Cécile Sayuri Poimboeuf-Koizumi (Publisher, Chose Commune), Marta Weiss (V&A), Katy Hundertmark (Foam), and Sylvia Sachini (APhF Book Program).

Selection has multiple tiers. The winning project enters the festival's main exhibition programme at the Benaki Museum in Athens. Twenty shortlisted dummies are exhibited at the festival; ten are included in the printed catalogue.

Eligibility is open globally to photographers and artists who use photography, regardless of age or nationality. Projects must be finalized at submission. If already printed in any form, editions must be under 100 copies — the award is for unpublished or barely-published work.

Submission is hybrid: digital online form with a PDF (max 10 MB) plus one physical dummy copy mailed postmarked by the deadline. Fee is €25 per project; €15 for additional projects by the same applicant. The 2026 deadline was April 28; results announced June 14, 2026.
