Artist-in-Residence — January–June 2027
Six-month workspace residency at Riverviews Artspace in downtown Lynchburg, Virginia, sponsored by Bank of the James, for the January–June 2027 term. The resident gets free space within a shared artist studio, access to Riverviews' creative community, staff and professional network, individualised professional development including mentorship and portfolio feedback, and a final exhibition or public presentation of the work made during the residency. Monthly public engagement runs through First Fridays and open studios. In exchange the resident keeps regular studio hours, gives curatorial and installation help on every exhibition in the term, engages with visitors, and delivers at least one public artist talk, workshop or presentation. Open to emerging or mid-career artists comfortable in a shared studio, open to collaboration, interested in installation and curation, and able to keep a consistent presence in Lynchburg for six months. Free to apply, but note this is workspace only — no housing and no monetary compensation. Selection announced December 15, residency begins January 1, 2027.
