ANIMAL LIFE
Praxis Photo Arts Center is a Minneapolis nonprofit gallery and educational center for fine art photography. ANIMAL LIFE is one of its themed juried exhibitions — built around photographic engagement with non-human subjects.
The brief asks for work that engages animals with curiosity, empathy, and imagination — companion animals, wildlife, insects, and sea life. The methodological range is broad: observation, environmental portraiture, documentary, or experimental approaches. The brief explicitly welcomes diverse perspectives on human-animal relationships.
All lens-based photographic and lens-based art practices are welcome, including black and white, color, traditional, and non-traditional processes. Images showcasing violence or inhumane treatment toward animals are excluded.
Selection is by Praxis Directors. Selected work is shown in a physical group exhibition at Praxis Gallery in Minneapolis.
Eligibility is open globally to photographers 18+. Submission is through Smarter Entry with 5–10 images. Fee is $35. The 2026 deadline was April 19; results announced April 24, 2026.
