Women's Studio Workshop — Art-in-Ed Workspace Residency 2026
Women's Studio Workshop (WSW) is a non-profit print, photo, and book arts center at 722 Binnewater Lane, Kingston, New York (in the Rosendale area), founded in 1974. The Art-in-Ed Workspace Residency combines a teaching residency with personal studio time — artists teach intaglio, silkscreen, or hand papermaking to local K-12 public school students while working in WSW's studios on their own practice.
The teaching schedule splits between two cycles. The Fall 2026 cohort runs 6 weeks teaching high school students one day per week for 4 weeks (plus school visits). The Spring 2027 cohort runs 7 weeks teaching fourth and/or eighth graders three days per week for three weeks in elementary classrooms. Artists are paired with a teaching assistant during contact hours.
Compensation: $175 per day per teaching day plus $525 for lesson planning. Artists receive free on-site housing and 24/7 studio access including the silkscreen studio, darkroom photography facilities, intaglio, letterpress, papermaking, and ceramics studios. Artists cover their own travel and materials.
Eligibility requires the ability to teach intaglio, silkscreen, or hand papermaking. Outside of teaching hours, residents can work in any WSW studio. Application is free.
Applications go through Submittable. The 2026 application window opens February 15 and closes May 15 at 11:59 PM EST; results announced July.
