W. Eugene Smith Grant for Student Photographers 2026

The W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund's grant for student photographers, awarded to fully matriculated students whose work continues Smith's tradition of humanistic, concerned photography. Two grants of $5,000 each are awarded — $4,500 on selection and $500 on delivery of twelve images within 18 months. Open to students 18 or older of any nationality (high-schoolers excluded); international applicants are welcome and a valid student ID is required. Applicants submit a bio, project description and proposal with up to 40 images from an ongoing project. The call opens July 1, 2026, and recipients are chosen by a three-member international jury.
