Verzasca Foto Festival 2027 — Exhibition Open Call
Verzasca Foto Festival is a photography festival held in Sonogno and surrounding villages of the Verzasca Valley, a remote Alpine area in Ticino, Switzerland. Founded as an annual event, the festival is transitioning to a biennial format with its 2027 edition, positioning itself as a meeting space between artistic practice and territory.
The 2027 open call is built around a clear curatorial line: photography that engages directly with peripheral, rural, and marginal places. The brief asks for work that surfaces the everyday gestures sustaining landscapes, economies, languages, and relationships in such territories — explicitly avoiding romanticisation. Works exhibited in 2027 will be installed in natural and rural settings across the valley.
Selected artists receive a participation fee, and the festival covers all exhibition production costs. The call is free to enter and open to photographers worldwide regardless of background. Submissions can include a photo series from any time or location, provided it aligns with the exhibition concept, with an optional slide or video for projection that does not influence selection.
Selected artists are notified by email at the end of June 2026; the festival does not provide feedback to unselected applicants. Submission is via the festival's website. The deadline is June 10, 2026.
