SQUARE Photography Exhibit

SQUARE is Decode Gallery's themed exhibition for photography composed within the square format — Decode treats square as both a constraint and a tradition (Hasselblad, Rolleiflex, Polaroid SX-70, Instagram), inviting photographers to engage with the format across genres rather than treat it as a separate style.

All photographic genres are welcome: portraiture, landscape, documentary, architecture, conceptual, abstract. Twelve photographs are selected for the three-month physical exhibition at Decode Gallery in Tucson, Arizona, running August 1 through October 31, 2026.

What's unusual: the gallery covers all professional printing on Epson printers with Ilford Pearl paper, museum-quality 14×14 inch framing, and custom 7×7 inch mats. The artist provides only the high-resolution JPEG. Prints are retained in the gallery's flat files for six months after the exhibition for further promotion.

Sales terms split commission 50/50. Selection is by Decode founder Holly Hart, a conceptual fine art photographer with a BA from the Art Institute of Seattle. Entry fee is $40 for up to 10 images. Eligibility is open worldwide to amateur and professional photographers. The 2026 deadline is June 13; selected artists are notified within two weeks.
