San Marcos Arts Festival Juried Art Exhibition 2026
The juried exhibition anchoring the San Marcos Arts Festival, presented by the San Marcos Art League on behalf of the City of San Marcos and open to artists in any fine art media, photography included. The juror is Margo Handwerker, Director of the Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, previously Dean of its Core Residency Program and Chief Curator and Director of the Texas State Galleries in San Marcos; she holds a PhD from Princeton's School of Architecture and is a practising artist and member of the M12 Studio collective. Up to $500 in cash prizes is awarded at the juror's discretion. Artists may submit up to five entries but no more than two works can appear in the show, and work must have been completed in the last two years. Accepted work must be hand-delivered on 1 November — nothing shipped — framed no larger than 36 by 48 inches and under 35 pounds. The exhibition runs 4–20 November 2026 at the San Marcos Art Center, with an opening reception on 13 November and the festival itself on 14 November. All work must be for sale; the Art League retains a 20% commission.
