Men Asleep — 2026 Book & Exhibition Open Call

Men Asleep began as a 2025 zine compiled by Jordanna Kalman and published by Memory Version. Kalman invited fifty women photographers to send a photograph of a man sleeping; nineteen responded, and the resulting 40-page black-and-white zine was inflected by the Gisèle Pelicot case and the contrast between sleep as safety and as vulnerability.

The 2026 open call expands the project into a book and an exhibition. The brief remains spare: one photograph of a man sleeping. The work selected for the 2025 zine ranged from intimate and dreamy to charged with implied threat — the call leaves interpretation to the photographer.

Submission is by email. The image must be JPEG, 300 dpi, with the long side at 3000 pixels, named Firstname_Lastname.jpeg. The email subject must read 'Men Asleep Submission' and the body must include name, website, and Instagram handle. Entries that do not follow these instructions will not be considered.

Entry is free. The deadline is August 1, 2026. The project is run directly by Memory Version; no jury list or selection schedule is published on the call page.
