Lines & Layers

Fall juried show in the light-filled second-floor galleries of Falkirk Cultural Center, an 1888 Queen Anne estate on eleven acres in San Rafael, listed on the National Historic Register and run by the City of San Rafael since 1974. Lines guide the eye and define form; layers add depth, texture and history — artists are invited to explore either or the relationship between the two, from patterns in nature to bold geometric composition and richly textured surfaces. Photography is welcome alongside drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, fiber and mixed media. Open to artists living in the nine Bay Area counties, with up to three works made in the past two years and not previously shown at Falkirk. The exhibition runs September 11 – October 23, 2026, opening during San Rafael's Art Walk.
