Global Peace Photo Award 2026
The Global Peace Photo Award is an international award organized by Edition Lammerhuber in partnership with Photographische Gesellschaft, UNESCO, the Austrian Parliament, Vienna Insurance Group, LensCulture, POY LATAM, APA, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie, Leica Camera Austria, and UNICEF Austria. The award was previously known as the Alfred Fried Photography Award and continues to bestow the Alfred Fried Peace Medal alongside its cash prizes.
The award recognizes photographs that express the idea of peaceful coexistence. Total prize pool is €11,000 across six categories: Peace Image of the Year (€7,000), three Stories category winners (€1,000 each), one Single Picture winner (€1,000), and one Children's Peace Image winner (€1,000). All cash recipients also receive the Alfred Fried Peace Medal.
Winners are invited to the award ceremony at the Austrian Parliament in Vienna on September 24, 2026, with travel and accommodation covered. Selected work may also be exhibited internationally; the award maintains a permanent exhibition at the Austrian Parliament.
Submission is free. Eligibility is open to all photographers worldwide of any age, with a separate Children's Peace Image category specifically for photographers aged 14 and under. AI-generated work is not accepted.
The 2026 jury draws from international photo editors, festival directors, and photographers: Lars Boering (European Journalism Centre), Pablo Corral Vega (POY Latam), Cyril Drouhet (Le Figaro Magazine), Magdalena Herrera (GEO), Gerd Ludwig and Pascal Maitre (both National Geographic), and Lois Lammerhuber (Edition Lammerhuber). Submissions go through Picter; the deadline is May 24, 2026.
