Fundación Botín Art Grants 2026/2027
Fundación Botín was established in 1964 by Marcelino Botín Sanz de Sautuola and Carmen Yllera. The Visual Arts Grant program has run since 1993 and has supported more than 200 artists. Many former grantees are now internationally established.
The 2026/2027 edition awards six grants of €23,000 each. Funds cover living expenses, travel, equipment, studio rental, and production costs. Medical insurance is included for grantees who need to relocate internationally for the project. Payment runs in tranches: 45% upfront, 25% after the first trimester, 25% after the second, 5% on final report submission. The grant period is nine months.
Eligibility is open to artists of any nationality. One of the six grants is reserved for Spanish citizens or Spain residents (5+ years) under age 30 who are relocating abroad for their project. Projects must involve artistic creation and production, not theoretical research.
What's offered beyond the funding: public exhibition of resulting work at Centro Botín in Santander as part of Itinerarios — the program's annual exhibition, now in its 27th edition. Works may be acquired by Fundación Botín's Art Advisory Committee. Centro Botín retains first-show rights — works exhibit there before any other public presentation. Career tracking and ongoing support continues post-grant.
Applications combine an online registration form and a printed dossier sent by postal mail: ID copy, CV (max 3 pages), project title and 100-word summary, full project description (max 10 pages), graphic documentation on single-sided A4 color prints. Final report due November 12, 2027.
The 2026/2027 deadline is May 8, 2026 (postmark date); physical receipt accepted through May 22 if postmarked by May 8. Results announced before July 17, 2026.
