Echoes of Place

Regional juried exhibition celebrating the historical tapestry of New Hanover County, North Carolina — from pre-colonial Indigenous presence through Civil War significance to modern coastal development. All media including photography; work must be original, made within the past three years, and inspired by the county. Open to artists 18+, up to two works per artist in each of the 2D and 3D categories; entry is $45 ($35 members, $20 students) and covers two pieces. All work must be for sale (25% commission). Exhibited August 1–15, 2026 at Fort Fisher State Historic Site, with select pieces chosen for extended display there afterwards. Juried by Gayle Tustin in consultation with historical consultant Dr. Jan Davidson. Awards include $1,000 for Historical Excellence, $750/$250/$100 in both 2D and 3D categories, and a People's Choice prize. Deadline extended from June 1 to June 15.
