E·CO/26 — About Time
E·CO is a joint program from VIST Foundation, AECID (the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation), and NEWF (Nature, Environment & Wildlife Filmmakers, South Africa). The 2026 edition is themed About Time, asking collectives to work on the relationship between past, present, and future — ancestral knowledge, memory, territorial connections, and future imaginaries.
Twelve collectives are selected: six from Latin America and six from Africa. Each receives a €5,000 production grant. Eligibility is restricted by geography — applicants must be based in Latin America or Africa — but is structurally collective: groups of three or more people, either pre-existing or formed for this call. International groups spanning multiple countries are accepted.
Format is open: visual, audiovisual, and transmedia. Selected groups enter a guided production process with virtual mentorship from program specialists. Finished works are presented through travelling exhibitions and the digital platforms of VIST Foundation, NEWF, AECID, and the Spanish Cultural Center network across both regions.
A collective meeting brings the twelve groups together in November 2026 in South Africa, hosted by NEWF. Submission is by Google Form to eco@vistprojects.com. The application is free; deadline is May 10, 2026.
