Dog Days of Summer

WHAM Art Center in Surprise, Arizona invites artists to respond to the hottest, stillest stretch of the season — the dog days, named for the rise of Sirius, the Dog Star, at the peak of summer heat. Sought: work that captures what summer at its peak feels like — heat, stillness, nostalgia, exhaustion, memory, and atmosphere — through color, landscape, abstraction, or personal storytelling. All media welcome, including photography; works may be literal, abstract, symbolic, or conceptual. Entry $40 for up to five entries (a related series counts as one); all work must be for sale, 25% gallery commission. Exhibition runs August 4–29, 2026.
