Artist in Residence Program 2026

TILT Institute (formerly Project Basho) is a Philadelphia photography institution. The Artist in Residence Program offers four-week residencies for artists advancing contemporary photography. Two artists are selected per cycle: one slot reserved for a Philadelphia-based artist and one open to all.

The residency package is materially substantial: $3,000 honorarium, waived printer and scanner fees during the residency, $1,000 ink and paper credit, and $1,500 travel/housing reimbursement. Residencies run between June and November 2026.

Eligibility is open globally for the open slot; geographically restricted for the Philadelphia slot.

Submission is through Submittable with up to 10 images. Application is free. The 2026 deadline was March 29; results announced April 24, 2026.
