10x10 Photobooks Research Grants Cycle 5

10x10 Photobooks is a US-based nonprofit dedicated to photobook scholarship, exhibitions, and publications. The Research Grants are the organization's annual program supporting photobook research projects. The 2026 cycle is the 5th edition, focused specifically on photobooks from Africa and its diaspora.

Three $2,500 grants are awarded each cycle. The grants fund research toward exhibitions, publications, or critical writing — not photobook production itself, but study of the photobook as a form.

Selection is by Amy Sall (Founding Editor, SUNU Journal), Diane Frankel (Chair, George Rickey Foundation), Mariama Attah (Curator, National Museums Liverpool), and Marjorie Ornston (Grants Director, 10x10 Photobooks).

Eligibility is open globally to applicants whose research engages with the cycle's geographic focus. Submission is by Google Form with a project proposal. Application is free. The 2026 deadline was March 23; results announced May 2026.
