Womanhood

The Photobook Cafe is a London photography venue with a café, exhibition space, and bookstore focused on photobooks. Rapid Eye Darkrooms is a London photographic printing service. Together they run a quarterly themed open call. Womanhood is the sixth cycle in the series.

The brief is open in approach: anyone engaging with or experiencing Womanhood in any of its forms. The theme is held broadly — work doesn't need to be by women, but it needs to engage with Womanhood as subject.

The 2026 guest judge is photographer Francesca Allen.

Selection structure has two tiers. Thirty-five selected photographers are featured in a group exhibition and printed zine at The Photobook Cafe in London. From the 35, three Best in Show winners receive a complimentary group exhibition with printing by Rapid Eye Darkrooms and curation by Francesca Allen.

Submission is through Photobook Cafe's website with 2 images per entry. Fee is £25. The 2026 deadline was April 20; results announced April 25, 2026.
