Future Photobook Award 2026

The Future Photobook Award is a new prize launched by the MA Photography programme at Coventry University in partnership with Fast Forward, the international research and advocacy network for women in photography based at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA).

The award is intentionally inclusive on format. Submissions can be a finished photobook, a zine, a handmade artist's book, a printed essay, or any photo-based publication — the brief does not prescribe a binding, length, or production method. The intent is to recognise the photobook in its widest sense, including DIY and small-edition forms that often fall outside the criteria of larger photobook prizes.

Eligibility is open to anyone over 18 who is currently studying at, or has recently graduated from, a Higher Education institution. There is no fee. Entry is by post — physical books are submitted to the award via the link in the brief. All entrants receive written feedback from industry professionals. The winner receives personalised portfolio reviews with each of the judges, and the winning publication is shown in an exhibition at a Coventry venue.

The inaugural deadline is August 7, 2026.
