Wild & Free — SaveArtSpace Billboard Exhibition
SaveArtSpace is a non-profit organization that has run public art billboard exhibitions since 2015. The format is unusual: rather than traditional gallery shows, SaveArtSpace places artists' work on commercial billboard advertising space across New York City for at least one month per exhibition.
"Wild & Free" is curated by Gigi Chen, a contemporary wildlife-focused artist and nature photographer. The theme explores the close connection between nature, mythology, and civilization — work that examines how the natural world coexists with urban environments, or how mythology mediates the human-nature relationship.
Selected works are displayed on NYC billboards for at least one month starting June 26, 2026. The format gives artists exposure to a much larger audience than gallery shows reach — billboards in commercial Manhattan and outer-borough corridors are seen by hundreds of thousands of pedestrians and drivers daily.
Eligibility is open to artists of all ages and backgrounds. The program is structured as a tax-deductible donation model rather than a competitive entry fee — submission costs are $35 for 1 to 3 images, $10 for each additional image, with the fees treated as charitable contributions to the non-profit.
Submissions go through JotForm. The 2026 application window runs March 30 through May 11; selected artists are announced after May 25.
