Wider Skies Magazine — Issue 1
Wider Skies is a new photo magazine launched in 2026 by curator Drew Arrieta. Issue 1 is the magazine's debut. The editorial premise is speculative futurism — not as science fiction, but as a way of noticing the near futures already forming around us.
The brief asks for images that point to possible futures grounded in real life: moments of care, repair, survival, shared responsibility, quiet adaptation, or small signs of change. The framing is observational documentary about the slow now rather than imagined or staged speculation.
Eligibility is process-restricted: film photography only — analog capture. AI-generated work is not accepted.
Notable practical support: free Kodak Pro 100 film is available for applicants who need it — the magazine subsidizes material rather than charging for entry.
Selection is by Drew Arrieta. Submission is through the Wider Skies website with up to 4 images. Application is free. The 2026 deadline was April 10; results announced May 2026.
