War/Conflict Photography in the Time of the Global Changes

The Ukrainian House of Photography is a Kyiv-based NGO founded in 2024 to support Ukrainian photography through exhibitions, education, archives and publishing. Its IMPACT KYIV War/Conflict Photography Forum, held October 15–18, 2026, with an accompanying exhibition running through November 7, brings together photographers, curators and editors to examine the role of the image in moments of war and global upheaval. The open call "War/Conflict Photography in the Time of the Global Changes" feeds the forum's main exhibition.

The brief invites work across two categories: documentary coverage of war and conflict, and conceptual or artistic approaches to the same subjects. Each category awards a €300 cash prize to one winner. Selected projects are exhibited during the forum in Kyiv, with all exhibition production costs covered. The forum is organized with support from the French Institute in Ukraine.

The 2026 jury combines documentary and curatorial voices: French photojournalist Guillaume Herbaut, British curator Hilary Roberts, Chilean-French artist and curator Sergio Valenzuela-Escobedo, Ukrainian curator Kateryna Radchenko, and American curator Cynthia Young of the International Center of Photography. Entry is free and open to authors aged 18 and over from all countries except Russia. Each photographer may submit one project, made after 2022.

Submissions are a coherent series of 15–20 photographs delivered as a single unlocked PDF, no larger than 10 MB and no more than 10 pages, at 150–300 DPI in sRGB or Adobe RGB. Files must be named FirstName_LastName_ProjectTitle_YearCreated. The use of AI is prohibited in both categories. Applications are submitted via a Google Form linked from the forum page on uhop.org.ua; the deadline is May 30, 2026 at 23:00 CET.
