Torn

Drawing Rooms, a nonprofit art space in Jersey City, wants to expand what the word 'torn' can mean. The show seeks work that results wholly or partly from the act of tearing — collage, fibre, painting, assemblage — or that documents the residue of that act, a photograph of what tearing left behind, or that composes competing elements and narratives which refuse to resolve. Photography, prints, drawing, painting and sculpture are all accepted; AI-generated and reproduced works are not. Up to three unframed images may be submitted. Exhibited work must be for sale, split 60/40 in the artist's favour. The exhibition runs September 10 – October 11, 2026, with notification on August 16.
