The Photo Review 41st Annual International Photography Competition
The Photo Review is a Philadelphia-based photography journal founded in 1976 and one of the longer-running independent photography publications in the United States. The 2026 cycle is the journal's 41st Annual International Photography Competition — a continuous run since 1985.
The 2026 cycle is juried by Dr. Sarah Kennel, the Aaron Siskind Curator of Photography at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Selected work is exhibited at the Woodmere Art Museum in Philadelphia and reproduced in The Photo Review journal — the journal-plus-museum format means selection produces both physical exhibition placement and ongoing editorial archival.
Cash and material prizes are layered across multiple sponsors: a $1,000 purchase prize from Haverford College, a $500 printing certificate from Booksmart Studio, $200 certificates from Digital Silver Imaging and Shades of Paper, smaller certificates from Red River Paper, PhotoLounge, Think Tank Photo, and PhotoFlasDrive, and a Wacom Intuos Pro tablet. All accepted entries appear on The Photo Review website and in partner email blasts. All entrants receive a full-color competition catalogue regardless of placement.
Entry fee is $40 for up to three images, with $8 per additional image. Submissions are made through Smarter Entry. The 2026 deadline was extended to May 31 after Woodmere pushed back the opening of the Best of Show exhibition; results announced June 30.
