Sonntag Grant 2026 Photobook Open Call

The Sonntag Grant is a Berlin-based grant for photography administered annually, with the 2026 photobook track run in collaboration with Replika Publishing. The grant is one of the few major photobook awards specifically reserved for FLINTA artists — female, lesbian, inter, non-binary, trans, and agender — at any career stage and any nationality.

One artist is selected to work directly with Replika Publishing to produce a new photobook. The print run is at least 350 copies, with 50 copies going to the artist. The remaining copies enter Replika's distribution and the Sonntag Grant's archive. The selected artist works with the publisher on book design, sequence, and production over several months — the grant is structured around the collaborative book-making process rather than just funding.

The brief asks for projects that challenge the boundaries of the book as form, with emphasis on conceptual depth, material inquiry, and artistic dialogue. All forms of photographic work are accepted; projects must be completed or at an advanced stage suitable for production. AI-generated images are not accepted.

Eligibility is open to FLINTA artists 18 years and over, anywhere in the world. Submissions accept up to 20 images and require a project description and artist statement. Application fee is €10. The 2026 cycle accepts submissions April 1 through midnight (Berlin/CET) May 31, 2026; results announced August–September 2026.
