SCAN Tarragona — Full Contact Award 2026

SCAN is the international photography festival organized by Tarragona City Council, in Catalonia. Full Contact is its portfolio review and professional meeting day, held inside the festival program. The 2026 edition takes place October 17 at Teatret del Port in El Serrallo, Tarragona's historic fishing quarter.

Twelve projects are selected for Full Contact. Each selected artist gets a table to present work to 20+ art-world professionals — curators, editors, gallerists, festival directors. Selected participation is fully covered: opening-night accommodation at the official hotel, formal invitations to SCAN and Full Contact opening events, the welcome dinner on Friday October 16, and a professional lunch on Saturday October 17.

From the twelve, one artist receives the Full Contact Award: a solo exhibition in 2027 as part of SCAN's official program plus €900 (taxes included) for exhibition and communication rights. SCAN provides advisory support within available resources to develop the show.

Eligibility is restricted to legal-age residents of any European Union country or the United Kingdom. Submissions are accepted in Catalan, Spanish, and English. Any photo series that tells a story is eligible — open subject. Selection criteria foreground conceptual strength, distinctive voice, aesthetic coherence, and narrative construction.

Each application includes biography, project title, a 300-word project description, up to 16 JPG photographs (minimum 2,000px on the shortest side, ZIP under 30 MB), and an optional supplementary PDF. The 2026 jury is Ada Sbriccoli and Arola Valls Bofill — both independent curators, researchers, and lecturers. The decision is final. Application is free; deadline May 10, 2026, 11:59 PM.
