Penumbra Foundation Workspace Residency 2026
Penumbra Foundation is a New York City photography nonprofit with comprehensive photographic facilities — darkrooms, digital labs, and studio space all available to residents. The Workspace Residency is the foundation's main residency program.
The residency runs 6–8 weeks in New York City. Each resident receives a $7,000 honorarium plus full access to the foundation's facilities — production support is the core of what's offered.
Selection is by Makeda Best (Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs, Oakland Museum of California), Natasha Chuk (media theorist and researcher), and Walead Beshty (artist and educator).
Eligibility is restricted to US-based artists. Submission is through Picter with 10–20 images. Application is free. The 2026 deadline was March 31; results announced May 15, 2026.
