Pamplemousse Magazine Issue 13
Pamplemousse Magazine is an independent contemporary film photography print magazine based in San Francisco, founded by Nora Lalle. The magazine is published by Pamplemousse Projects, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization. The publication explores the intersection between fine art and vernacular photography — work that engages with snapshot, family album, and found-photo traditions through the eyes of contemporary practitioners.
Issue 13 has an unusual format: rather than open submissions on a theme, applicants are asked to respond to one of several provided found photographs from another era. Submissions must be contemporary analog photography projects of 10 to 15 cohesive images created in response to one selected inspiration photo.
Strict media restrictions: only original film photography is accepted — 35mm, 120 medium format, large format, Polaroid, or alternative processes. Digital editing is permitted as long as the original capture began as analog. Original work only; the inspiration photos provided by the magazine are starting points, not material for direct reuse.
Submission is free. Selected artists are published in the magazine — typically 10–15 submissions per issue. Pamplemousse cannot offer compensation due to budget constraints, but rejected submissions are sometimes featured on the magazine's social media as a secondary recognition track.
Submissions go through Dropbox as files named FIRSTNAME_LASTNAME_01, accompanied by a 100–300 word project statement. AI-generated work is not accepted. The Issue 13 deadline is May 17, 2026 at 9 PM PST / midnight EST.
