Outside the Box: Cameraless Photography
PhotoSynthesis is an East Hartford, Connecticut photography organization. Outside the Box: Cameraless Photography is the gallery's call for work made without a camera — photograms, chemigrams, lumen prints, chlorophyll prints, phytograms, anthotypes, cyanotypes, and composites that blend camera and non-camera methods.
The brief is process-restricted by design: at least one cameraless technique must be involved. AI-generated work is not accepted.
Selection structure: 30–40 pieces are selected for both gallery exhibition (May 30 – July 11, 2026) and website display. Cash awards: Juror's Award $200, Director's Award $150. Honorable mentions receive the printed catalogue.
Selection is by Dale Rio, photographic artist and co-founder of The Halide Project, MFA from Pratt Institute.
Eligibility is open to alternative-process work globally. Submission is through EntryThingy with 1–5 images. Fee is $30. The 2026 deadline was March 31; results announced April 13, 2026.
