New South, Volume III

The Atlanta Center for Photography (ACP) is an Atlanta, Georgia nonprofit running exhibitions, workshops, fellowships, and publications. "New South" is its annual self-published group photo book gathering lens-based work made in, of, from, and about the American South; the 2025 volume featured more than 81 artists.

ACP deliberately resists a narrow definition of the region. As described in the foreword to the first volume, "the only constant is that the region can't be codified" — the publication pursues the South through nuance defined by relationship and impact, not strictly by Southern heritage, location, or 'quintessentially Southern' imagery.

The call is open to both emerging and established photographers, and ACP especially encourages submissions from artists who identify as Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities. Photographers may submit 1–5 images representing their lens-based practice.

Selected works are featured in a high-quality 8x10 printed book ranging from 60 to 100+ pages, with the number of contributing artists and copies determined by the strength of submissions. The book is produced and sold through the ACP website, approved retailers, and in person in Atlanta by early October 2026. The application fee is $15, and the deadline is June 15, 2026.
