Mythos Negra — Dark Myths

Juried exhibition at ShadowBoxX Gallery in Waukegan, north of Chicago, for artists working in analog media. Mythos Negra explores the shadowed realms of myth, superstition and folklore that emerge from humanity's deepest fears — the femme fatale whose allure brings ruin, the tragic figure complicit in their own downfall, the wrathful deity dispensing arbitrary punishment. Personal myths and ritual are equally welcome. Eligible work includes film-based and darkroom photography alongside painting, printmaking, sculpture, collage, textile and other physically produced processes; digital artwork, digital manipulation and AI-generated work are not considered. Founded by artist Michael E. Voss, the gallery runs monthly group and solo shows and says it works to keep artists' shipping and display costs down.
