Light on Cut Paper: Photography & Collage

The New Orleans Photo Alliance (NOPA) is a long-running nonprofit photography organization in New Orleans, Louisiana that runs themed juried exhibitions, the Michael P. Smith Fund for documentary photography, and educational programs. "Light on Cut Paper: Photography & Collage" is the third call in a NOPA series focused on artwork at the intersection of photography and collage.

The brief is medium-specific: work by artists who collage their own photographs, make photomontage, or use a collage-like process — whether in the composition of photographs or in the darkroom itself. Applicants must submit a brief statement explaining how the work demonstrates this intersection rather than only sending images. NOPA states openness to any work where the artist feels the image speaks to this hybrid practice.

Selected work is exhibited June 10 through July 10, 2026 at the NOPA gallery. The gallery takes 40% commission on sales; artists receive 60%. All work must be delivered framed and ready to hang by June 5, 2026 — international shipping logistics are the artist's responsibility.

Juror is Jan Kather, with notifications sent May 18, 2026. The deadline is May 12, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fees: $25 for NOPA members, $35 for non-members; combined membership-plus-entry options are also available.

Eligibility is international; all ages welcome; NOPA membership is not required to apply. Image specs: 1 to 5 images per entry, JPEG/JPG, under 5MB, minimum 1200 pixels on the longest side. Digitally manipulated photographs are permitted; AI-generated photographs are not accepted.
