Immagini e trame d'acqua — Le Stanze della Fotografia Open Call

Le Stanze della Fotografia is a Venice-based photography foundation, located on the Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore opposite St Mark's Square, run jointly with the Fondazione Giorgio Cini. Its inaugural open call "Immagini e trame d'acqua" — Italian for "images and weavings of water" — is organized in partnership with the Association for the Heritage of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene (the UNESCO World Heritage site north of Venice) and Marsilio Arte.

The brief is open in scope: water as a force and a necessity within cultural and landscape heritage, anchored by the Prosecco Hills but extending to any heritage site in Italy or abroad. Two submission formats: a photography-and-text project (3 to 10 images plus a narrative up to three pages) or a video-story (maximum two minutes combining images, words, and sound). There is no entry fee, and the call is open to citizens, students, photographers, videomakers, and storytelling enthusiasts of any age and nationality, individually or in collectives.

Three awards are given per category: Best Visual Narrative, Best Language and Experimentation, and a Special Mention for Under-30 entrants and students. Selected work is exhibited at Le Stanze della Fotografia and gathered in a brochure distributed through the foundation's bookshop and partner cultural venues. The jury includes photographer Maurizio Galimberti, photography critic and curator Denis Curti, writers Antonio G. Bortoluzzi and Sabrina Zuccato, and Marina Montedoro, president of the Heritage Association. Submissions close September 30, 2026; winners are announced within twenty days.
