#HopperHappens Juried Photography Exhibition
The Edward Hopper House Museum operates from Hopper's childhood home in Nyack, New York. The #HopperHappens series began on the museum's Instagram, collecting real-world photographs that evoke Hopper's light, mood, and compositional sensibility — the painter's domestic American spaces translated into photographic seeing. The juried exhibition extends that Instagram premise into a physical group show.
The 2026 juror is Richard Tuschman, a photographer best known for his Hopper Meditations series, which restages Hopper paintings as constructed photographic dioramas. The selection structure is unusual: 55 photographs are chosen and dispersed across 55 different businesses and nonprofits throughout Nyack — the show is the town for the duration.
Cash prizing is $1,000 total: first $500, second $300, third $200, plus Juror's and Visitor's Choice awards. The exhibition runs June 1 – July 5, 2026.
Eligibility is open internationally to photographers 18+. Submitted work must be completed after January 1, 2020 and never previously exhibited at the Edward Hopper House Museum. MFA student discounts on entry fee are available.
Submission is through ArtCall with up to 3 images. Fee is $30 for members and $60 for non-members. The 2026 deadline was May 3; results announced May 11, 2026.
