Global Reporting Grants

The Pulitzer Center's open, catch-all reporting grant — no restriction on topic or region — funding in-depth journalism on systemic issues that get too little coverage. Photographers are explicitly eligible alongside reporters, audio and video journalists and documentary filmmakers; staff and freelancers of any nationality can apply. Grants cover reporting costs against a reasonable, detailed budget; most awards for international travel fall between $5,000 and $10,000. It does not fund staff salaries, equipment purchases, books, feature-length films, routine breaking news or data projects aimed solely at academic research. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis with no deadline; half the grant is paid once paperwork is complete and the remainder on submission of the finished work. Grantees join the Center's reporting network and its education and outreach programs.
