Flashes of Humanity — Pragovka Gallery 2027 Open Call

Pragovka Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in the Vysočany district of Prague (Kolbenova 923/34a, 190 00) — operating in a former factory complex repurposed as artist studios and exhibition spaces. The 2027 open call is themed "Flashes of Humanity / Záblesky lidskosti" — exploring what constitutes humanity today, with a brief that emphasizes subtle, almost imperceptible moments: brief encounters, small acts of attention, and the quiet ways humanness extends through and beyond exclusively human qualities.

The call is structured in two tracks. Track 1 selects exhibition projects (authorial or curatorial) for the 2027 exhibition program at Pragovka Gallery. Selected projects receive: transport and installation costs covered, accommodation and travel costs by agreement, PR and opening event production, design, printing, photographic documentation, and artist fees (amount determined by available funding). Pragovka does not cover artwork creation costs or materials.

Track 2 selects residency projects for Pragovka's International Residency Program. Residents receive an 80 m² studio space, accommodation and travel costs by agreement, an artist fee, and a material cost contribution. Residency outcomes can be Open Studio, lecture, studio presentation, or site-specific intervention.

Personal experiences, social questions, and experimental approaches are all welcome. There are no medium restrictions — photography is eligible alongside painting, sculpture, installation, sound, and other practices.

Selection is by a nine-member jury including Pragovka Gallery representatives, external artists, and art theorists/curators. Applications are free, made via Google Form with two PDFs (project description with visuals; portfolio/bio), each under 10 MB. Eligibility is open to Czech and international artists and curators. The 2026 deadline is May 17 at 11:59 PM; results published by end of June 2026.
